A new Home!

What if we can form a neighborhood of websites that are all connected by conversations? A social network web of public websites, just like how it was. Instead of a simple "follow" button, the contact would be established when you first reply to a post on another website, and both the original post and its replies are then reflected on both websites.

For the 2023 Svelte Hack, me and Michael are teaming up to materialise this idea into something testable. It is actually based on another good idea of editable websites, which means these new Homes can easily be hacked together with an embedded CMS in one running SvelteKit app.

Get yourself a home on the internet and have friends over!

We would like you to try it if you want when it is ready! Keeping you posted 😉

I just had a few thoughts in response to Webmention, which people pointed me to. With HNA we establish connections between websites/domains. Having that relationship means that the two websites want to be informed about each other's activities. So "Mentioned you" could be a special label on a feed update (that's the Webmention use-case). Others could be "New" (new post created) "Updated" (post updated) "New replies", etc.
